Suffolk police are seeking a suspect who robbed the 7-Eleven in Chuckatuck and assaulted a clerk there early Sunday morning.
An unknown black male entered the store just after 4 a.m. wearing a white T-shirt that was pulled over his face and carrying a baseball bat, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.
The clerk reported he was stocking shelves when the suspect approached him and struck him on the head with the bat. The suspect forced the clerk to walk to the cash register, and the suspect then removed an unknown amount of cash from the tray.
The suspect fled toward Godwin Boulevard, George said. The victim was transported to Sentara Obici Hospital with injuries that are considered non-life-threatening.
