LINE-X relocates, expands

A longtime Suffolk business celebrated its relocation and expansion Thursday with a ribbon-cutting, open house and learning seminar on its products and services.
LINE-X of Suffolk opened the doors to its new location at 2432 Pruden Blvd. after city officials helped owners Steve and Shelley Jones cut a ribbon.
“This is a tremendous location,” Steve Jones said. “We needed space because of the additional services we’re planning on adding for vehicles.”
The business moved from a location on East Constance Road. It is known chiefly for its bedliner products but plans to dive into other realms with the expansion, including selling and repairing equipment trailers.
“I think a lot of folks don’t know LINE-X is way more than just bedliners,” said City Councilman Mike Duman, who also owns an auto dealership. “It’s an asset for us and it speaks well for us and economic development.”
Councilman Charles Parr agreed.
“We thank Shelley and Steve for expanding their business and staying in Suffolk,” Parr said. “I appreciate your confidence in the city of Suffolk.”
Jones said the expansion includes about 4,000 more feet of space and a special bonus — a paved parking lot.
“It’s nice to have a paved parking lot,” he said. “We have more visibility.”
In addition to trailer sales and repair and its well-known line of bedliner products, Jones said the new business will offer after-market kits like rust proofing, fabric guard and more for many types of vehicles.
“That’s a lot to undertake, but that’s the expansion we’ve envisioned,” he said of the changes.
“An essential key to successful economic development is the growth of our existing businesses,” Mayor Linda T. Johnson said in a press release about the expansion. “We are so pleased to see LINE-X expand in Suffolk and we wish you continued success.”
The Suffolk location is one of more than 500 franchise centers in more than 40 countries for LINE-X. The company is headquartered in Huntsville, Ala.
