Construction crews have started moving land to make room for a neurologist’s office on Bridge Road.

The office is being built next to Bennett’s Creek Farm Market and will house the Virginia Neurology and Sleep Center, a practice of Dr. Amrutulal Barot and his sons, Dr. Ikshvanuk Barot and Dr. Nishivh Barot.

In addition to locations in Portsmouth and Chesapeake, the doctors already have a practice in Suffolk on Breezeport Way, just minutes from the new site.

However, they are outgrowing that office, said Dina Barot, the Chesapeake office administrator.

“The practice is getting bigger, and we need more space and more beds,” she said. “People are looking for doctors and looking for more beds.”

Dina Barot said the operations and sleep lab of the Breezeport Way office will move to the Bridge Road location when it is finished.

The large site is divided into four parts that are being sold individually. The doctor’s office will be on one part, and the neurology practice will be in half of the building, said J.B. Denny, the owner of the J.B. Denny Company, which is doing the construction.

“The other part isn’t leased yet,” he said.

Denny said grading currently is taking place, so crews can start to build the water feature that will help with storm water drainage at the office complex.

He said he is waiting for approval from the city of Suffolk for an erosion and sedimentation permit before crews can start building the office.

“As soon as we can get a permit, we’ll start with the foundation,” he said.

The permit was submitted at the end of September, Denny said, and he expects to start work later this month.

Dina Barot said they hope the building will be finished quickly.

“We’re hoping for the best and hoping for as soon as possible,” she said.
