Suffolk police busted an alleged nip joint in the downtown area on Sunday.
Police were called to a large party in the 300 block of Richardson Street, city spokeswoman Debbie George said. When officers arrived on scene, they allegedly found a bar-type setup in the house, complete with liquor, beer, plastic cups, a mixer, drinking straws and cash in a plastic container.
Officers secured a search warrant and collected the items, as well as a stolen firearm. There was $568 in the cash box.
Melvin Benjamin Budd, 55, was charged with maintaining a common nuisance and the illegal sale of alcohol. The home was condemned, George said.
