Fireworks set for Friday

The forecast is sunny and hot on Friday, which means the fireworks should go off as scheduled at Constant’s Wharf.
The pyrotechnic display was postponed from July 4 because of rain that evening. However, they were rescheduled for this week’s TGIF concert, where A Touch of Spice will be providing the music.
This is the last TGIF concert at Constant’s Wharf before the series moves north to Bennett’s Creek Park Aug. 5 through Sept. 2. Other activities at TGIF concerts include a children’s area and concessions. The fireworks are set to begin at 9 p.m.
The park and concessions open to the public at 6 p.m., with the band starting at 6:30 p.m. One group providing concessions is ECHO (Emergency Communicators Helping Others). Made up of Suffolk 911 dispatchers, the group offers cotton candy, popcorn, snow-cones, sodas, candy and chips for sale as a fundraiser for the 2012 Telecommunicator’s Banquet.
Attendees are encouraged to use the shuttle services that will be set up at the Fresh Pride and First Baptist Main Street parking lots.
