SUFFOLK — Brenda Marie Holland, affectionately known as “Reesee,” was born in Suffolk, Va., on July 1, 1966, to James Newby and Shirley Holland Davis. A native of Suffolk, she was a 1984 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and was employed by Smithfield Foods.
She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, as well as dancing.
On Sunday, June 26, Brenda crossed over and reunited with her loved ones that passed on before her: maternal grandparents, Harrison and Pearl Holland; paternal grandparents Joseph and Alma Newby; brother, Michael Newby; aunt, Vennie Roberts and uncle, Joseph Newby Jr.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son, Matthew Holland (Tequila); daughter, Tarsheva Holland (B-Boy); two grandchildren, Jae’marree and Jae’den Parker; mother, Shirley Davis (Jerome); father, James Newby; two brothers, Carlton Holland (Una) and Corris Holland; devoted sister, Cheryl Holland; sisters, Alma Newby, Cynthia Walker, Wanda Newby; best friend, Shanda Mitchell; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Davis; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011, at noon, at Greater First Baptist Church of Orlando, 600 Factory St., Suffolk, VA 23434. The family will receive friends at the home of Alma Newby, 219 Lewis Ave., Suffolk, VA 23434.
