Bauman takes command at FRC East

A 30-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Col. Mitch Bauman recently took command of Fleet Readiness Center East in Cherry Point, N.C.

Col. Mitch Bauman, a 30-year Marine Corps veteran, was transferred the leadership of the Fleet Readiness Center East on May 27th at Cherry Point, N.C.

Col. Bauman has been the executive officer at FRC East since 2009. He is married to Anne C. Bauman, formerly of Suffolk.

The FRC East is the Marine Corps aviation maintenance repair overhaul facility. It employs 3,400 personnel and averages an operating budget of $600 million annually.

Navy Rear Admiral Timothy S. Matthews, commander of Fleet Readiness Centers said, “We’re extremely fortunate to have Col. Mitch Bauman taking the “com.” Mitch has loads of fleet and acquisition experience to bring to this job, and he has had two years of XO experience to put him on the path to success.”

Bauman then addressed the workers at the complex.

“This institution exists for only one reason and one reason only,” he said. “It’s for (supporting Marines). I ask that your attitude be that the fate of Marine aviation rests upon your performance, and you can make a difference, you will make a difference in your area of responsibility. I want you to chase perfection.”
