Nansemond River juniors Travis Johnson and Kyle Moore earned First Team All-Eastern Region honors to go along with their same All-Southeastern District accolades for the high school baseball season.
Nansemond River completed the season in the VHSL Group AAA state quarterfinals, falling to nationally-ranked and then-undefeated South County 12-11 to finish with a 20-8 record. The Warriors made program history by winning the Southeastern District Tournament and reaching the state tournament, both firsts since the Warriors moved into Group AAA in 1995-96.
Johnson, a first baseman/pitcher, earned the regional honor at first base. At the plate, he hit .456 with 11 doubles, four homers, 26 runs and 27 RBI.
Moore, a leftfielder/pitcher, is an all-region outfielder. He hit .346 with five home runs and 28 RBI.
Johnson and Moore are two of seven underclassmen who were in Nansemond River’s regular lineup this spring.
