To the editor:

Isn’t it amazing that less than a month ago the city was in such bad shape that they had to raise property taxes, water bills, trash collection and who knows what other fees?

Lo and behold, suddenly millions of surplus dollars have been discovered! At least enough was found to provide bonuses for city and school employees.

Here’s a reminder: Many of the citizens of Suffolk who work in the private sector haven’t had a raise in years. It’s time the city and it’s staff start living in the real world and try living like the rest of us.

The next election can’t come soon enough.
