NR’s Watson earns honor

Nansemond River senior Jared Watson was named All-Eastern Region first team to go with his All-Southeastern District honors this season. Watson scored 24 goals as the Warriors had one of the best boys soccer seasons in school history.

Nansemond River senior Jared Watson was the only player from a Suffolk school and one of five Southeastern District players selected to the top All-Eastern Region boys soccer team for the 2011 season.

Watson, a forward for the Warriors, scored 24 goals in 15 games. The Warriors went 8-6-1 overall and reached the Southeastern District Tournament for the first time in program history.

Cox (21-0-2) put four players on the regional first team. The Falcons are in the state semifinals and ranked No. 1 in the nation by ESPNrise.com and No. 2 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Adidas Poll.
