The Suffolk Family YMCA will hold an Active Adult Day this week, specifically designed for to community members who are 55 years and older.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Suffolk Family YMCA, located at 2769 Godwin Blvd.

Lorraine Worrell, who is coordinating the event, said YMCAs across the nation are participating in the event.

Active Adult Day is free to attend and open to the public.

Attendees will be able to participate in fitness challenges, line dancing and several other activities geared toward older citizens throughout the day.

Worrell said she hopes people will attend to learn there are many options available for members of the age group to continue to be healthy, strong and active in the community.

“They can come in and stay the whole time or pop in and pop out throughout the day,” she said.
