James Gregory Critzer, 49, of Suffolk, Va., passed away on May 1, 2011. A native of Nansemond County, Va., he is the son of Jean Johnson Critzer Holland and the late Robert Ernest Critzer Sr. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Robert E. Critzer Jr. and Lewis Critzer. Greg was a former mechanic for the Suffolk Golf Course and presently handling maintenance for the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Greg served as a volunteer for Suffolk Peanut Fest since 1998 and was also president of the Magnolia Ruritan Club.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Joel Turner, of Suffolk; sister-in-law, Kim Myers Critzer, of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; niece, Rachel Jean Critzer; nephews, Matthew Aaron Turner and SSGT Joshua Michael Turner; two nephews and one great-niece and a longtime friend, Morris Carr.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, with the Rev. Dr. Norman March officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of Judy and Joel Turner.
