City leaders should cut budget requests

To the editor:
I have been recently reading and listening to individuals who do not agree with the city of Suffolk’s proposed budget. Please allow me to offer the following thoughts.
If the trash collection fee is enacted, is there going to be a separate account set up for these funds or do the funds go into the general fund — or should I say, the “general fun”?
Do we really need a new City Hall, or is this a monument to the City Council and to the city manager? Usually, you pump concrete under a sinking building to stabilize it.
In these austere financial times, it is time for some cuts to the special interests of the elected officials and those of the city manager and her staff.
Voters, just remember this during the next election cycle.
