God dispatched his angel to call home our beloved Ann Elizabeth Lewis, 57, on Thursday, April 21, 2011. She was preceded in death by a brother, George C. Eley, and grandson, TyQuan Lewis.
She was a native of Nansemond County, born July 16,1954, to the late Minnie Copeland Eley and the late Robert Earl Eley, Sr.
Ann attended the Nansemond County Public School. She was a former employee of Brent Lox Nursing Center, Chesapeake, and she recently became a member of Power House Ministry in Suffolk.
Ann leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Barbara Lewis of Portsmouth and Jeanette Lewis, Faye Lewis and Thomasena Lewis all of Suffolk; four sisters, Agnes Hamlin, Vernice Artis (Charlie) and Caffee Carr, all of Suffolk, and Minnie Carr (Robert) of Portsmouth; three brothers, Robert Eley Jr. (Mary), Raymond Eley (Lee Ester) of Suffolk and Bobby Eley (Betty) of Portsmouth. Also left to cherish her memories are nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a former husband, Thomas Lewis, devoted friend, Larry Brinkley, best friend, Florene Goodman, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Homegoing service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at New Mount Joy Food for Living Ministries, 307 County St., Suffolk, officiated by Elder Steve Hamlin. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 936 Lincoln Ave., Suffolk.
