Patricia Ann Holmes, 62, of 539 Wilson St., Suffolk, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late Clinton Phillips and Ogatha Holmes. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Wilson Jr.

She attended Booker T. Washington High School. She was employed with Suffolk Health Department as a CNA until her health failed.

She leaves to cherish her memory: five daughters, Sonya Holmes-Brown (Michael), of Newport News, Va., Tracey Holmes and Patricia Wilson, both of Suffolk, Monica Holmes-Floyd (Byron), of Jacksonville, Fla., Makesha Holmes-Goodwyn (Latroy), of Suffolk; one son, Maku Holmes, of Suffolk; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlene Holmes Privott, of Suffolk; two brothers, John Edward Copeland, of Portsmouth, Va., Dodson Holmes, of Georgia; a devoted friend, Wilbur Johnson; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, April 2, 2011 at St. Mark AME Zion Church, 817 McKinley Ave., Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Emanuel Myrick. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Friday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
