The woman who died while riding a dirt bike on Saturday was wearing a helmet when she crashed, police said Monday.
Jennifer Jackson, 39, of Virginia Beach, was operating the dirt bike on a dirt road near the 3200 block of Nansemond Parkway. She was traveling on the unnamed road parallel to the main road when she lost control, ran off the road to the right at a high rate of speed and struck a log. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A friend was operating another dirt bike nearby, city spokeswoman Debbie George said. The property where the crash occurred belongs to the city, George added, and is clearly marked with “No Trespassing” signs. She did not know whether police are considering trespassing charges against the others in the group.
