Marie Franklin, 87, of 325 Bullock St., Suffolk, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Baltimore, Md. and the daughter of the late Maxwell Green and Janie Hill Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Franklin.
She retired from Cavalier Vending Company. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she was a member of its senior choir, hospitality committee, and pastor’s aid.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted daughter, Gladys Franklin, of Suffolk; two sisters, Bessie Galloway, of Suffolk, and Velvin Smith, of Franklin, Va.; granddaughters, Cheryl Franklin, Patricia Gwaltney and Adrianne G. Kelly (Donald), all of Smithfield, Va.; great-granddaughter, Sabryia Kelly, of Smithfield; three special godsons, Marquell Hart, Terrell Hart and R.J., of Suffolk; special healthcare nurse, Mary Anderson; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 9000 Fire Tower Road, Windsor, Va., officiated by the Rev. James Elam Sr. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family is receiving friends at the residence, 325 Bullock St. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
