Joseph “Frank” Franklin Worrell Jr., 80, lost his battle with cancer on Feb. 23, 2011. He was born in Isle of Wight County on Nov. 7, 1930 to the late Olive Wills and Joseph Franklin Worrell Sr. He graduated in 1949 from Chuckatuck High School. Frank was a member of Providence United Methodist Church in Suffolk for 64 years. He taught the Sunday School Men’s Bible Class, was a leader for U.M.Y.F. with wife Tippy, and served as Chairman of the Board. He co-owned and operated Worrell’s Woodworking in Windsor with cousin Gene Worrell for 35 years. He was a manager of the King’s Fork Community House for two years and held every office in the King’s Fork Ruritan Club.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Martha “Tippy” Worrell, of Suffolk; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Don Dalton, of Windsor; a son and daughter-in-law, Perry and Lorraine Worrell, of Suffolk; a granddaughter, Beth Munford, and great-granddaughter Erica and her father, Mark Munford, of Smithfield; two grandsons, Frank and wife Mullika of Oahu, Hawaii, and Perry “PJ” Worrell Jr., of Suffolk; sisters, Marie W. Roeder, of Hopewell, and Josephine and husband, Percy Pierce, of Suffolk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Providence United Methodist Church on Providence Road by the Rev. Garland Hines.
