Florrie “Peggy” O’Neal Hazelette, 88, of Suffolk, Va., passed away Feb. 14, 2011. She was born in Norfolk, Va., the daughter of the late Josephine Roberts O’Neal and Ruben Grady O’Neal. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Parker Hazelette; her daughter, Jo Ann H. King; grandson, Brandon Dunavant; and brother, Charles “Buster” O’Neal. Peggy was well known in the community for her ability to make beautiful custom window treatments. She was a long time parishioner of St. Mary’s of the Presentation, having joined in 1931. She served on the Altar Guild, in the Women’s Club, and as a Sunday School teacher. She was formerly active in Meals on Wheels.

Peggy is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Robbin H. Setzer, RoseMary and Ken Knight, all of Suffolk; son and daughter-in-law, Charles E. and Joni H. Hazelette, of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Johnson, of Mechanicsville, Va.

A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s of the Presentation with Father Piotr Bialkowski officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Wednesday night for a time of visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the residence of RoseMary and Ken Knight.
