“Ghetto Tramp” is back on the stage, and the sequel has an all-new cast and new twists in the plot.

The play, written and produced by Suffolk resident Jo Anne Jones, will be shown at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at King’s Fork Middle School. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

Jones didn’t want to reveal too much of the plot of the play. “Ghetto Tramp” Part 1 centered on Janie, a woman who had a sinful relationship in her life and wound up denouncing that situation and turning her life around.

“Ghetto Tramp” Part 2 picks up where Part 1 left off, Jones said.

“Then another problem comes up, and it threatens to darken the road before her,” Jones said.

The second play leaves Janie wondering if she has made the right decision and how she will handle the new problem.

“Every choice has a consequence,” Jones said.

Cast members of the play promised it would be emotional, yet humorous at times and with the potential to make people examine themselves.

“It will have an effect on a lot of people,” said Anthony Wilkerson. “It’s an emotional play. It causes people to look at themselves.”

“It’s going to cause some deep thinking and maybe rethinking,” said Wandreria Hamlin, who said she wanted to do the play to expand her relationship with God. “There are consequences to our actions.”

The cast members also said the play will be a ministry to people who view it.

“It’s going to make you think,” Ashley Turntine said. “Am I doing everything I can do?”

Shaneta Pretlow, another cast member, said she hopes the play will even bring people to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

“It’s not just entertaining,” Jones promised. “I think it would be fitting for me to say to the Lord, ‘I love you,’ by carrying His word through dialogue.”
