GODHAP 4 Fitness on Bridge Road has expanded its facilities to include a new wing for fitness classes.
The new wing at GODHAP 4 Fitness, which stands for God Has a Plan 4 Fitness, opened yesterday beginning with a 9 a.m. yoga class. The business has been hosting classes since October, but yesterday was the official opening of its new wing designed specifically to house fitness classes.
With GODHAP’s expansion it is now offering $35 month-to-month memberships. With a membership, members can take part in any of the 50 class sessions offered. Without membership the price of each class session would be $12 per class.
Owner Rodney Sanders’ goal is to “Keep everybody active, and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg.”
Sanders is excited to be able to offer a fitness facility for the North Suffolk community that is conveniently located and where clients won’t have to sign a long-term contract.
“The biggest reason why I did it is that it is a service not offered here in Suffolk,” said Sanders. “I’m changing and impacting lives. “[The fitness classes] provide more opportunities to stay active at low costs. I’m not forcing anyone to do it. They don’t have to commit for 12 months.”
Prior to beginning the fitness classes, GODHAP 4 Fitness served solely as a personal training facility where Sanders met with clients to work on their individual diet and exercise plans. Sanders held a grand opening for his business in July, and officially began accepting clients in August. Since that time he has acquired over 29 personal training clients.
Sanders will continue to meet with clients for personal training in the original wing of the building while fitness classes are meeting in the new wing of the facility. This will provide his personal training clients with the privacy they need to discuss their individual concerns.
“I think it’s a success. This is the first day, and out of two classes, we had 15 people sign up. We have 48 more classes to go,” Sanders said.
For Sanders, GODHAP represents his philosophy. “I know what He has done for me,” Sanders said.
Sanders left his previous profession to begin his career as a personal trainer, “Last September, I quit my job, because I knew this was what I was supposed to be doing. Nine months later, here I am.”
“I don’t know too many people that would wake up one day and quit their job. That’s a lot of faith,” Sanders said. “You got to truly believe and walk out there and make it happen.”
