Officials with the Suffolk Public Schools system announced late on Wednesday that all schools would be closed Thursday because of the expected inclement weather.

Forecasters were predicting between one and three inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain to fall throughout the day, beginning around 7 a.m.

Snow is expected to turn to sleet and freezing rain in the early afternoon, and temperatures were forecast to hover around freezing for most of the day and evening.
