SUFFOLK — Howard Charles Williams, 89, of 4981 Sleepy Hole Road, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 in Hampton. A native of Nansemond County, he was a retired aircraft mechanic for Norfolk Naval Air Station. He attended Suffolk Public Schools.
He was predeceased by his wife, Delores Williams, and two sons, Lennie and V. Larry Williams. He is survived by five daughters, Carolyn Brown (Jesse), of Bristol, Conn., Joyce Hale (George), of Portsmouth, Va., Janice Williams, of Hartford, Conn., Cathy Hall (Wilbert), of Chesapeake, Va., and Sheryl Williams, of Portsmouth, Va.; three sons, Ronald Williams, of Bloomfield, Conn., Darrell Williams, of Portsmouth, Va., and Stephen Williams, of Hampton, Va.; 27 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, George Elner (Ada) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; two devoted friends, Ruby Phillips and William Peoples Sr.
Homegoing services will be held at Poplar Run Baptist Church, 5374 Bennett’s Pasture Road, Suffolk, Va., on Friday, Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk. The family will receive friends at 3775 Towne Point Road in Portsmouth and will assemble on Friday at 10 a.m. for procession to the church. Services entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home.
