Mrs. Margaret Knight, 67, of 1341 Devonshire Court, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010.
She was a native of Hickory and the daughter of the late Mr. Provanzo Griffin and Mrs. Fletcher Virginia Pugh Griffin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Wilburt Knight, one sister, Mrs. Eula Mae Artis and one brother Mr. Provezo Griffin.
Mrs. Knight attended the Suffolk Public Schools. She retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was recently employed with Suffolk Public Schools until her death. She was an active and dedicated member of Tabernacle Christian Church, where she was a member of Deaconess Ministry, Mass Choir, Singles Ministry and president of the Missionary Ministry.
She leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Nannie Griffin, Ellen Griffin, Margaret M. Knight-Barnes, and Amy Knight, all of Suffolk; three brothers, Melvin Griffin, Kenneth R. Griffin and Marvin Griffin; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Maratha Foster (Foster) of Philadephia, Pa.; one special beloved aunt, Alfreda Riddick of Chesapeake; two aunts, Olivia Bailey of Baltimore, Md.; Linda Foreman of Virginia Beach; one uncle, Fletcher Pugh (Shirley) of Suffolk; five nieces, six nephews; other family and friends.
A funeral will be held on Monday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m., at Tabernacle Christian Church, Suffolk, with Bishop Carlton Upton Sr. officiating.
Interment will be in the Carver Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk.
