A 21-year-old mother of four has been charged with aggravated assault and felony child abuse of her six-week-old baby.
Danielle Lynn Holland of the 900 block of E. Washington Street was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and felony child abuse after police were contacted Wednesday night in reference to a baby boy that had been taken to a Suffolk doctor, according to Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George.
When an examination revealed possible broken bones, the child was transported to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, where further examination revealed that the child may have had multiple broken bones, George said in a press release. The six-week-old boy was admitted to CHKD.
Investigators brought the charges against the mother after conducting interviews into the night, George said.
Holland is being held without bond at Western Tidewater Regional Jail. A video arraignment was scheduled for Friday morning.
Child Protective Services is also conducting an investigation, and Holland’s three other children have been removed from the home, according to George.
