Police have charged a Suffolk man with attacking his estranged wife in her apartment Sunday morning.

Lee Andrew Donaldson, 45, is charged with malicious wounding and shoot, cut, stab or wound in connection with the assault.

Suffolk police officers were summoned to the 400 block of Jackson Street when a caller heard screams. Upon arrival, they found 47-year-old Kaye Eaton suffering from injuries around her face and head. An infant child in the residence was uninjured.

Eaton was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition Tuesday afternoon.

Donaldson was arrested at his parents’ house in the 2100 block of Florida Avenue on an outstanding warrant for violation of a protective order. He later was charged with the other crimes following interviews by investigators. He is being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail with no bond.
