SUFFOLK — Ollie Estelle Hicks, of 5189 Godwin Blvd., passed away Sept. 4, 2010 at Sentara Obici Hospital. A native of Nansemond County, she was daughter of the late James M. and Permilla Hite Richardson and the widow of Fred Wallace Hicks Sr. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Matthew Richardson and Lonnie Lee Richardson.

She was a member of Zion Christian Church, where she served on the Deaconess Board, Usher Board, Pastor’s Aid and Women’s Fellowship.

She leaves to cherish precious memories, one daughter, Sherry Scott (Angelo), of Suffolk; one son, Fred Wallace Hicks Jr. (Andria), of Suffolk; one sister, Mamie Griffin, of Hartford, Conn.; one brother, Arthur McKinley Richardson (Della), of Suffolk; grandchildren, Santana Artis, Brandon Artis, Keiyvonn Hill, Tallereo Scott, Angie Mack, Thomas Scott, Angelo Scott, Fred Scott, Devante Drayton, Aaliyah Drayton and Tristan Hicks; five great-grandchildren; one uncle, Bruce Richardson Sr. (Carrie); nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at noon Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 at Zion Christian Church, 5200 Quaker Drive, officiated by the Rev. Ben Fitzgerald III. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
