Dollie Maude Jordan Rodgers Wright, 89, of Portsmouth, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 1, 2010. She was a native of Suffolk, Va. She was the daughter of the late Tipney B. and Amy Bell Jordan.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Decater Rodgers and Leroy Wright; daughters, Celestine Waters and Juanita Copeland, granddaughter Joyce Ann Harris, two sisters, Amy Brown and Mary Spears, and three brothers, Herbert, Tipney Jr. and Gerald Jordan.
She was a housewife and domestic worker.
She was a lifetime member of Healing Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Lizzie B. Goodman and Edith Sessoms; 23 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 49 great-great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law, Coley Copeland Jr. and Lloyd Waters Sr.; one sister-in-law, Annie Rodgers; four sisters, Beatrice Hudson, Mollie Jordan, Lealer Manley, Sylvia Battle (Thurman); three brothers, Claude Jordan (Goldie), David Jordan (Ruby), and Joseph Jordan (Peggy), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ms. Wright will be on view from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6 at the funeral home. The family will receive visitors at 29 Hobson St. at all other times. A home going service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 at Healing Chapel Baptist Church, where the Rev. Morris Allmond is pastor. She will be laid to rest at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens and Chapel Mausoleum.
