Michaux Raine III

Michaux Raine III, always known as Shack, of Penhook passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010 after a very long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma.
He was 74.
Born to Michaux and Zou Raine, he was raised in Chuckatuck. He attended Hampden-Sydney College, Elon College and T.C. Williams Law School at the University of Richmond. He was also in the United States Air Force for four years.
Shack will forever be known for his devotion to his family, his love of teasing other people, enjoyment of playing golf and poker with his buddies, his longtime involvement with Trinity Episcopal Church and his fine job as lawyer in Rocky Mount and Franklin County for many, many years.
He is mourned in passing by his much-loved wife of almost 50 years, Brenda Dod Raine; his beloved children, Michaux Raine IV and wife Stephanie of Austin, Texas and Susannah Raine-Haddad and husband John of Richmond; his most precious and dear grandchildren, Raine, Zou and Rye; his dear brother and friend, Arthur and wife Eloise Raine; sisters-in-law, Barbara D. Whittle and Joan Douglass; brother-in-law, Daniel Dod; a special cousin and wife, Austin and Mary Hart Darden; his many nieces, nephews and cousins; his long-time law partner, Clyde Perdue; his church family at Trinity Episcopal Church and many, many friends, too numerous to mention.
Memorial services will be conducted from Trinity Episcopal Church 11 a.m. Monday with Revs. John and Rachel Gardner officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church at 101 E. Church Street, NE, Rocky Mount, VA 24151, Carilion Hospice of Franklin County at 180 Floyd Ave., Rocky Mount, VA 24151 or to Cool Branch Rescue Squad at P.O. Box 54, Penhook, VA 24137.
His family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
