John Lee Baker “Bo Bo” departed this earthly life on July 21, 2010. He was born on April 10, 1939 in Nansemond County to Virginia M. Baker and Mansfield Adams. He graduated from East Suffolk High School in the class of 1959.
He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was previously employed at Newport News Shipbuilding and at Budget Rental Car in Washington, D.C.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Connie Lee Baker, and a dear friend, Daisy Lee Strozier, of Washington D.C.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Orga M. Boone (Ernest); two sons, John Lee Baker Jr., of Suffolk, and Timothy Stagg, of Maryland. He will be missed by his three brothers, David C. Baker III (Jennifer), James G. Baker and Dwight Baker, all of Suffolk; three cousins, Virginia Baker Kee, of Portsmouth, Quentin Baker, of Suffolk, and Gloria J. Boone, of Baltimore, Md.; a loving granddaughter, Jalisa Hayes; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and three special friends, Ronald Coates, of Washington D.C., Chris Nevins and Louise Baker, both of Suffolk.
A funeral of triumph will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at noon at the Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Harris Funeral Home has been entrusted with the home going service.
