Catherine Viola Goodman was born Feb. 14, 1925 to Clarence and Carolina Ellis in Plainfield, N.J. She entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Va. She entered holy matrimony with Leon Goodman on Nov. 13, 1953. They had one son, Horace Goodman.
She was employed by the Suffolk Public School system until her illness. Cherishing her memory are her husband, Leon Goodman, of Suffolk, Va., and one son, Horace Goodman, of New Haven, Conn., one sister-in-law, Fannie C. Jones, of Little Plymouth, Va., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She enjoyed bringing the family together by hosting family cookouts. She was a member of the East Suffolk Federated Civic League and the East Suffolk Gardens Civic League.
A Christian wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 25 at Wyatt and Sons funeral Home Chapel. A funeral will be held Sunday, June 27 at 2 p.m. in New Middle Swamp Baptist Church, Corapeake, N.C., by the Rev. Dr. Claude Odom.
