Support classes get spotlight at Langley

HAMPTON – Support divisions take a turn in the spotlight this Saturday as Langley Speedway continues its 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series campaign.
Saturday’s lineup includes: B&C Seafood Modifieds (50 laps); Pepsi Grand Stocks (40 laps); Langley Fan Club Super Streets (40 laps); Standard Welding Pro Sixes (30 laps); Rhonnda Claiborne, Realtor HRKC Pro Winged Champ Karts (20 laps); and, Virginia Mini Cups (20 laps).
Front gates open at 1 p.m. and afternoon practice gets rolling at 2. After a 4:15 drivers meeting, time trials begin at 4:30. Pre-race ceremonies start at 6:45 and the Mini Cups kick off the evening’s feature program shortly after 7.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 6-12. “Little Race Fans” (under 6) are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Military personnel (active-duty or retired, with ID) and senior citizens (60+, with ID) receive a $2 discount off the adult ticket price.
Last Saturday’s “Rock Star 265,” to benefit 10-year-old cancer patient Madison Arnot, raised nearly $10,000 in donations and pledges.
A longtime member of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, Langley Speedway is a .395-mile, slightly-banked oval. The track is located at 11 Dale Lemonds Dr., off North Armistead Ave., in Hampton.
