Edith Jenkins

Edith M. Langston Jenkins, of Centerbrooke Lane in Suffolk, quietly slipped away the morning of June 10, 2010, at her home.
She was educated in the public schools of Suffolk and was a proud member of the East Suffolk High School Class of 1956. Ms. Jenkins was a member of The Unitarian Church of Manhattan, N.Y., and a retiree of Young & Rubicam Advertising Company of New York, where she worked as an accountant technician.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, the late William Langston and Florence Virginia Branch Langston; and two sisters, Mary Virginia Dye and Rosa Eloise Jolly.
She leaves to celebrate her life and precious memories a sister, Sandra Pritchard of Newport News; her niece, Linda L. Jacobs (Myron), of Wade, N.C.; a great niece, Ta’Meka Breland of Wade, N.C.; a goddaughter, the Rev. Rhonda K. Smith of Hampton; cousins, Lucille Hodges of Suffolk, Isaac Jones of Suffolk, Nathan (Terry) Smith of Chesapeake; and her loving cat of 20 years, Yang.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Christian Home Baptist Church 20123 Longview Drive Windsor, with interment at Carver Memorial Cemetery of Suffolk.
The family will receive friends at the home. Viewing will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Professional service was entrusted to Shivers Funeral Chapel, Smithfield.
