A fundraiser for the Driver Volunteer Fire Department today will feature face painting, raffles, free food and a ribbon cutting for Suffolk’s newest business.
The “Spring Fling” event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. in the Creekside Village Shopping Center, located at 3235 Bridge Road.
“It’s all to benefit the Driver Volunteer Fire Department,” Susie Morgan of The Grater Kitchen said.
At noon, a ribbon cutting and grand opening will be held at Healing Time Café in the shopping center. The new store will serve organic coffees, espresso-based beverages, flavored teas, smoothies and bakery items, as well as a variety of sandwiches.
From noon to 5 p.m., the business owners in the shopping center will sponsor raffles. Each raffle ticket costs $1 and benefits the volunteer firefighters.
The Grater Kitchen store in the center will have cooking demonstrations and give away free hot dogs, hamburgers and barbecue. Sal’s Pizza will give away garlic knots. Folk City Tattoo will offer press-on tattoos and have special deals on their services.
The Bennett’s Creek Pharmacy will have a sidewalk sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and free balloons for children. Everything outside the store will be 50 percent off, and in-store specials will be 20 percent off.
Face-painting and other children’s activities also will be offered. Admission is free.
