A Suffolk man was arrested Friday in connection with a shooting at a Hampton nightclub early Friday morning.
Lamarr Norman, 24, of the 800 block of Walnut Park Drive in Suffolk, is charged with two counts of maiming and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Also arrested was Timothy Josaahn Watson, 21, of Impala Street in Newport News. He received the same charges, plus an additional count of shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Hampton 911 dispatchers received a call at 12:48 a.m. on Friday alerting them to a shooting that had occurred at the club, in the first block of Wythe Creek Road, according to a press release from Hampton Police.
The investigation revealed that an argument broke out between two groups at the club, police said. One of the suspects — police say it was Timothy Watson — pulled out a gun and fired several shots into the crowd. A 22-year-old female and a 26-year-old male, both of Hampton, were shot in the arm. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries, which are not considered life-threatening.
After the shooting, the suspects got into a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am and fled the scene. A witness flagged down a Poquoson police officer nearby and gave a description of the vehicle. The vehicle was located just before 1 a.m. in the area of Magruder Boulevard and Hampton Roads Center Parkway. Police initiated a traffic stop and took the suspects into custody without incident, according to Cpl. Allison N. Quiñones, a public information officer with the Hampton Police Division.
Both are being held at the Hampton City Jail.
