Our beloved Dorothy Lee Hudgins Knight, of the 200 block of Columbus Avenue, completed her earthly visit on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at her sister’s residence, 1098 Union Branch Road, Corapeake, N.C. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Willie Hudgins and Catherine Weaver. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Rene Mullen, Barbara Knight and Kathleen Eure, and brother, Willie Hudgins Jr.
She attended John F. Kennedy High School and was formerly employed by Planters. She was a member of New Mount Joy Food For Living Ministries.
She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Natasha D. Young (Vernon), of Stratford, Conn., Tamika R. Walthour (J.R.), of Highland Springs, Va., K. Dontay Holloman (Lushus), of Suffolk, Va.; four grandchildren, Xavier Young, of Stratford, Conn., Nona Walthour, of Highland Springs, Va., Nile Young, of Stratford, Conn. and Dalana Holloman, of Suffolk, Va.; three sisters, Nan H. Diggs, of Portsmouth, Va., Pearla “Bunchie” Noveras, of Keaau, Hawaii, Mary L. Riddick (James), of Corapeake, N.C.; three brothers, David L. Hudgins, of Chesapeake, Va., J. Earl Hudgins (Sarah), and George “June” Hudgins, both of Suffolk; four aunts, Jannie Mitchell (Ray), of Philadelphia, Pa., Ruth Weaver, of Chicago, Ill., Louise Weaver, of Baltimore, Md., Thelma Smith, of Ahoskie, N.C.; two uncles, John Henry Hudgins, of Chesapeake, Va. and James “Buddy Boy” Hudgins, of Philadelphia, Pa.; beloved friend, Eric D. Minor, of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 30, 2010 in New Mount Joy Food for Living Ministries, officiated by Pastor Viola Parker. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
