If you think you smell the sweet aroma of Bubba ‘N’ Frank’s Smokehouse barbecue in Suffolk this weekend, your nose isn’t fooling you.
Katody’s is hosting the fourth annual Art Show at Governor’s Pointe, at which Bubba ‘N’ Frank’s will be barbecuing, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We’re looking forward to a crowd of people to come out and enjoy the day and shop local artists,” said Kathy Flythe, who owns Katody’s with her husband. “Bubba ‘N’ Frank’s is going to be here, too, with the best barbecue.”
Local artists will present their works — ranging from jewelry to glass to wood to pottery — from which guests can buy.
There will also be wine served, with all proceeds going to the Suffolk Art League.
The idea began four years ago because, “my husband and I wanted to do something to give back to the community,” Flythe said.
They couldn’t think of a better way of doing that than by making local art available to the public and giving local artists a stage at which to showcase their work.
“We’re big supporters of national and local businesses,” Flythe said. “We support the ‘Made in USA’ concept and want to keep business as local as possible. We also have so much talent here.”
As the years have progressed, the event has grown, Flythe said.
“We have 300 to 400 people come out for the event every year,” she said. “We do several events here though. It’s such a quaint location.”
The art show is free and open to the public.
Other events to look forward to at Governor’s Pointe include farmer’s markets in June, July and August and Fall in Love with Virginia Market in October.
