International Paper Co. will move 35 customer service employees to Suffolk in June.
Franklin Mill Communications Manager Desmond Stills said the employees will move by June 1 to offices at 1069 Centerbrooke Lane, which is in the Commons at Centerbrooke development on Godwin Blvd.
The announcement means the 35 jobs will not be moving to the fourth floor of the Franklin Business Incubator, as officials there originally had hoped.
“International Paper, the City of Franklin and (Franklin-Southampton Economic Development Inc.) put in numerous hours and lots of work trying to make it work at the Franklin Business Incubator,” Stills said Wednesday. “In the final outcome, it was determined that facility did not meet the needs of the customer service department.”
