Lena Holland Morgan, 93, of 114 S. Capitol St., Suffolk, was called to her eternal home on March 8, 2010, from Sentara Obici Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 1, 1916, in Nansemond County, Va., to the late Selena White and David Holland Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Morgan, and her siblings, Arlelia H. Wilkins, Mary Holland, Irene H. Rawls, William T. Holland, and David M. Holland Jr. She was a former member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Suffolk, Va. She received her early education from Little Fork School, and Nansemond County Training School in Holland, Va. She retired from the restaurant business in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved back to Suffolk, Va. She became an active member of the Senior Citizens of Suffolk, Va., in 1979, where she was on the Advisory Board, and a member of the Senior Gospel Choir. She leaves to mourn her one nephew, MonDamin Wilkins, of Chicago, Ill.; four nieces, Cyneese Wilkins and June R. Bess, both of Portsmouth, Va., Lelear R. Woodson and Arminta O. Rawls, both of Suffolk, Va.; two devoted great-nephews, Vernon Lee Woodson, of Suffolk, Va., and Byron W. Darden, of Washington, D.C.; three grandnieces-in-law; five generations of nieces and nephews, a special cousin, Ruby H. Walden; dear friends, Mr. & Mrs. Herman White, and Elizabeth Edwards, all of Suffolk, Va., and a host of other relatives and friends. Homegoing services will be conducted on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 1 p.m., at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Henry Baker. Interment will be in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery.
