Willie V. Brown, of 2781 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk, departed this life Thursday morning, Feb. 18, 2010 at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Suffolk. He was born June 2, 1933 in Accomac County, Va., to the late George Brown and Roxanna Blow Brown. He was predeceased by three brothers, David Brown, George Brown and Luke Brown; one sister, Mary Brown; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Evans.
He retired after 50 faithful years of service with Lipton Farm as a laborer.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Quenne Brown; three daughters, Mrs. Elaine Wilkins (Willie), of Suffolk, Cheryl Brown, of the home, Mrs. Deborah Bazemore (Kelvin), of Suffolk; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Giles (John), of Windsor, Va.; four sons, Mr. Vernon Brown, Mr. Robert Brown, Mr. Larry Brown, all of the home, Mr. Willie Brown Jr. (Monica), of Philadelphia, Pa.; one brother, Mr. Joe Brown (Mildred), of Suffolk; three sisters, Mrs. Georgianna Deloatch (David), Mrs. Betty Jones and Mrs. Irene Ganier, all of Portsmouth; one special sister-in-law, Inez Slaughter, of Philadelphia, Pa.; 25 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren; a very special granddaughter, Felicia Powell, of the home; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 in New Hope Baptist Church officiated by Dr. William E. Russell. Interment will be in Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.
