Mollie Virginia Brown, 88, of 309 Eugenia St., Suffolk, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Rocky Mount, N.C. and the daughter of the late George Vines and Carrie Mercer-Seabrell. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Brown.
She was the owner of “Ms. Mollie’s” General Store, where she retired after 20 years. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Jacqueline Parker and Barbara Smith, both of Suffolk; one brother, Jordan Mercer (Linda), of Suffolk; three grandchildren, Janice A. Parker, Danny L. Parker (April), both of Hampton, and Angel A. Parker, of Atlanta, Ga.; nine great-grandchildren, Torian Giles, Tiara Warren, Curtis Parker, Darius Parker, Keonte Deloatch, Jamar Parker, Christopher Parker, Devaun Mack and Khalani Garnett; two great-great-grandchildren; two nieces, Martha Ann Cobb (Frank), of Virginia, and Loretta Hopkins, of Suffolk; nephew, Jordan Mercer Jr., of New York; other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses officiated by Lloyd Holland. Entombment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
