Betty Anne Knight Bryant, 71, of Suffolk, Va., passed away Jan. 2, 2010. She was born in Nansemond County, Va., the daughter of the late Margaret Anne Stedman Taylor Knight and Willie Carey Knight. Betty retired after 20 years as a nursing supervisor for Obici Hospital. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Knight’s Farm Supply. Betty was a member of Cypress Chapel Christian Church, the New Hope Bible Class, the Robin Farrell Circle where she held many offices throughout the years, and the Epicurean Club.
Betty is survived by her husband of 49 years, Walter Yates Bryant; daughters, Lori Bryant Burke and husband, Dennis of Bridgeton, N.J., Lisa Bryant DePew and husband Thomas of Fredericksburg, Va.; grandchildren, Kellie Anne Burke, Casey Leigh Burke, and Alison Bailey Burke, Taylor Morgan DePew, Colton Thomas Bryant DePew; sisters, Billie Taylor and Robert McCray of Richmond, Va., Patsy Ruth and W. Dewey Privott of Suffolk, Va., Nancy Carolyn Knight Parsons of Southern Shores, N.C., Emily Kaye Knight of Charlottesville, Va.; aunt and uncle, Sallie Marie and Rudolph F. Jordan of Hobbsville, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Cypress Chapel Christian Church with Rev. Willis I. Dowling officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
