SUFFOLK — “In tears we saw you sinking we watched you fade away, our hearts were almost broken, you fought so hard to stay. But when we saw you sleeping, so peacefully from pains, we could not wish you back to suffer that again.”
Marilyn Giles peacefully passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009. She was born on April 3, 1965 to Bishop Willie Giles Jr. and Dorothy Smith in Suffolk, Va.
Marilyn leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted father, Bishop Willie Giles Jr.(Doretha); mother, Dorothy Smith; daughter, Darlene K. Giles; son, TraQuinn J. Giles; four brothers, Elias Giles, Quinton L. Whack, Wilbert D. Giles and Mervin D. Giles (Candies); three stepsisters, Phyllis Jones (Leroy), Aretha Hamlin, and Laura Davis (Keith); stepbrother, Wyatt Hamlin Jr.; seven nieces; 11 nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
Miss Giles will be on view from 1 to 7 p.m. and the family will receive guests from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18 at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 19 at Rising Saint James Pentecostal Holiness Church, Bishop Dwight Whitfield, pastor. Miss Giles will be laid to rest in the T.E. Cooke-Overton Garden of Carver Memorial Cemetery.
