Photogs can capture Suffolk

It’s all about perspective.
Far too often we forget about the beauty and wonder that is everyday before us because we are way too busy or we’ve driven to work along the same route every day for years.
On Oct. 24 local residents have been invited to take a photo walk around downtown Suffolk to help better document the everyday wonder that is our city.
Everyone has done it. You’ve driven to a new place, either on a business trip or vacation, and are amazed at the area’s pretty parks, interesting statues and intricate architecture.
But, because you often cannot see the forest for the trees, you rarely recognize the same things in your own hometown. Now is your chance.
This photo walk, which will begin that Saturday morning at the doors of the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts is for photographers of every skill level, of every artistic eye.
The two-hour walk around downtown, beginning at 9 a.m., will give these photographers, these artists, the chance to document in their unique way the sights that make the downtown Suffolk area so interesting.
And, to top it off, some of the photographs will be published in an upcoming publication by the Suffolk News-Herald.
For those of us at the News-Herald we appreciate the character of downtown, having our office located just a block or two from the heart of downtown.
As for this event, we hope for great weather and great turnout and cannot wait to see what these photographers find in our downtown.
