SMITHFIELD — Mary Carroll Oliver, 68, died Oct. 3, 2009 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Fannie H. and Harry C. Carroll Sr. Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by her sister, Eva C. Spivey and two brothers, Robert M. and Raymond W. Carroll.
Mrs. Oliver was a member of Whitehead Grove Baptist Church and was a preschool teacher in Isle of Wight County.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse Vernon Oliver, Jr., a son, Jesse “JV” Vernon Oliver, III and his wife, Lindsay; two sisters, Dorothy C. Pittman and husband Charles of Elberon and Lillian C. Whitley and husband Dennis of Waynesboro; two brothers, Percy W. Carroll and wife Brenda of Elberon and Thomas L. Carroll and wife Wonda of Chesapeake.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Russell Leonard, with burial in Whitehead’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
