A Suffolk grand jury indicted a suspect in a cold case homicide this week, exactly 12 years after the killing.
Police are searching for the man they say fatally shot Carl Shawn Turner, 21, while Turner was attending a party in the 100 block of Halifax St. on Sept. 28, 1997.
Lonnie Lee Bowers Jr., 40, is wanted on charges of first-degree murder, use of a firearm and shoot, stab, cut or wound. His last known address was the 1400 block of Blythewood Lane.
Police have not been able to locate Bowers, and are asking for assistance from the public. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Bowers is known to have ties to other Hampton Roads cities, along with South Carolina and Washington, D.C.
