Charlie A. Wright, Sr., 59, of 3309 Bickford Court, Chesapeake, passed away August 14, 2009 in the comfort of his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Nansemond County and son of the late Elmore T. Wright, Sr. and Constance V. Chapman-Wright. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Cordelia Wright.
Mr. Wright attended Suffolk High School. He had been employed for 29 years as a Rigger at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Church of God In Christ and was a member of the Male Chorus.
He leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to his daughter, LaVonya Wright (Eric) of Portsmouth; son, Charlie A. Wright, Jr. of Portsmouth; six sisters, Constance Edwards, Pamela R. Wright, Marie Johnson (Andrey), Linda Coleman (Larry), Beatrice Wright and Remona Drew (Willie, Sr.); three brothers, Elmore T. Wright, Jr. (Tina), Linwood C. Wright (Maxine) and Clinton B. Wright, Sr. (JaVonda); seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; a special friend, Mary Ann Wright; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Service to Celebrate his life and homegoing will be held at 12 pm Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Christian Home Baptist Church, 20123 Longview Drive, Windsor, officiated by Elder Larry Gray, Sr. and the Rev. Wendell M. Waller, Pastor. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home, 900 E. Washington Street, Suffolk.
