Mrs. Susie P. Joyner, 77, of 2068 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk, Va., died June 25, 2009 at her residence.
She was a native of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Ellis Powers and Mary E. Price Powers. She was the widow of Robert D. Joyner Sr. She was a member of First Baptist Church Hosier Road, owner of Joyner Motel, former employee of Norfolk Naval Base, and former nurse aid at Louise Obici Hospital.
Her survivors include two sons, Robert D. Joyner Jr. (Paige) and Curtis Joyner (Kimatha), both of Suffolk, Va.; three grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday, July 3, 2009 in Crocker Funeral Home at noon, by Dr. Lemuel Greene. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m.
