Theophlise Lawrence

SUFFOLK — Theophlise “Buddy” Lawrence, 80, of 2128 Florida Ave., died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Washington and Emma Lawrence. He was a widower of Sally Lawrence.
Mr. Lawrence was an Army veteran. He retired from Suffolk City School system after 35 years of service as a bus driver. He was the owner of Atlantic Ice Company. He was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Patrice Weaver (Andre) and Joyce Worrell, both of Suffolk, Va., and Valerie Darden (Joe), of Franklin, Va.; one son, Rodney Hart (Juanita), of Suffolk, Va.; six grandchildren; one special friend, Mildred Coles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be held at noon, Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Tabernacle Christian Church, 2500 E. Washington St., Suffolk, Va., officiated by Dr. Carlton Upton. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Rodney Hart, 314 Burnetts Way, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
