Mods, Super Streets take center stage Saturday

HAMPTON – The B&C Seafood Modifieds and Atlantic Power Sweeping Super Streets will share the spotlight this Saturday when Langley Speedway continues its 2009 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series campaign with Hampton Roads Toyota Dealers Night.
This week’s five-race lineup includes: Modifieds (50 laps); Super Streets (50 laps); Casey Cycle City INEX Legends (25 laps); Larry King Legal Services Enduros (50 laps); and, Wolf Trucks (20 laps).
Langley will hold its regular, weekly “test and tune” session on Thursday. Gates open at 5 p.m. and practice begins at 6. Pit admission is $10. There is no charge to watch from the grandstands.
Modified points leader Shawn Balluzzo will be looking for his first victory of the season in this Saturday’s 50-lapper. He holds an eight-point advantage, 144-136, over Chris Johnson and Rusty Wood in the current standings.
Ryan Nester is undefeated in three Super Street races and will try to keep that streak intact this weekend. He is eight points ahead of Randy Sample in the title chase, 150-142.
In the INEX Legends division, race winners Jamie Price and Steve Keesee hold the top two spots in the points rundown with Price enjoying a two-point edge, 94-92.
Mike Ganoe tops the Enduro standings after one race. Meanwhile, Mark Claar has been a “lone wolf” in the Wolf Truck class – the only entrant in two events. Speedway officials will be hoping for increased participation as both divisions return to action.
The Late Model Stock Cars resume their ‘09 campaign when NASCAR action continues at Langley on Saturday, June 6, with Cavalier Surf Shop Night. The Old Point National Bank Grand Stocks, Med Express Urgent Care Super Trucks, Standard Welding Pro 6s and Rhonnda Claiborne, Realtor HRKC Pro Winged Champ Karts round out that evening’s five-race lineup.
